Helpful tip: collect your suckers and throw them into your tomato sauce before simmering. And fish em out before serving. They're packed with really intense, vegetal flavor that's super good. Same goes for any/all leaves you can spare from the plant

If you want big tomatoes then take the suckers off. If you want a lot of tomatoes then leave them on.

First year planting lots of tomatoes. I thought I was keeping up cutting the suckers. They are everywhere and now I have a wild tomato patch.

So for the double leader. If I understand correctly you allow one sucker to grow as well as the main stem?

QUESTION: I'm a brand new gardener. Can I put dead squash & cucumber leaves that have leaf miner trails on them in my compost pile. I know some things that have disease shouldn't be put in the pile but I wasn't sure about these… Thanks!!

This is my third year of gardening and im still learning, i live in Belgium, we had horrible spring with 2 months of constant rain and very low temperatures, add on top of it slug invasion, i felt i was going to lose my crops. But watching channels like yours i managed to save everything .Your garden is amazing, i love your channel and i'm obsessed with your tomato trellis, i will try and make one just like yours next year. Thank you for all the tips and advice you've given us,wish you all the best! Greeting from the cold and humid Belgium.

I have another question: suppose you are growing a variety that can get 1lb +, or even 2lb + but you get a fruit that weighs say 10-12 oz. Is it not a good idea to save seed from a runted fruit? Can 'runt' genes carry, even if its weather stress that causes the runts?

Frankly I don't prune suckers unless I want to control the size of the plant. I have a question: is good or bad to prune ALL the suckers when trying for a monster fruit? I pruned a lot on my Westerlund to get the 2lb fruit but I don't think I got em all. 🤔

My tomato plants are showing leaf curl . The leafs are in good condition otherwise. The leaves are even curled in the morning after a rain. (Less but still apparent) . I have drip irrigation so im somewhat confident its not related to water. I made new raised beds for them this year and im thinking i may have made a mistake. The beds are only 2' wide and are 16" tall, I used barn metal for the sides. Im thinking my soil may be too hot. (82° at 12" deep). Could that be my issue.
