I grew up in the mid west USA. Home gardening was so easy a little chicken wire fence to keep the rabbits out then just plant and weed, maybe a scarecrow for the birds. I now live in costal California you would think its milder climate would make it better for gardening but no! Its like trying to open a jewelry store in the ghetto. I am focusing on exclusion methods as they seem to be the only thing thats not toxic and can do the job, but it's not cost effective so still trying to figure out how organic gardening can be cost saving as well.

i have a green tree frog that loves the beetles and a bearded dragon that eats the snails and birds control the rest . we just haven't come to a great agreement about the stone fruit, i think i should get to eat the plums, the parrots and gala's think otherwise, the willy wag tails seem to love the olives.

Hi Mark, thanks for all the videos, I’m leaning a lot from you 👌
I have a lot of curl grubs in my veggie patch
I only have a small backyard, so I grow everything vertically and I don’t have chickens unfortunately
Do you have any advice on if I should get rid of them and what to do with them?

I honestly dislike gardening, cause it makes me feel dirty, but with the higher price of food, I've decided to start my own garden, still so much to learn, but it's going well…. and I still dislike it, but it's worth it

I literally choke laughed on my coffee when you said you'd get shot by your own sprinkler. Oh gosh, I could just imagine you just casually walking through the garden innocently, not thinking twice about the secret water assassin that you installed, then getting shot by it.😂😂
Good morning, fresh new day……..now I'm all wet. 😖
That's definitely something that would happen to me as well.

Putting food or waste away from your property, or dropping seeds, away from the garden, gives them something to eat, and keeps them away from your graden.

Thanks for the tips. Something is eating the leaves of some of my seedlings and young plants this year more than I remember them doing last year and it's been a bit stressful bc I worry they will die. So far, most of them are okay because I grow multiple plants of each thing I want to grow for the most part, and not all are getting hit as much as others. Another thing that has just happened which is how I ended up here is that I just opened a bag of mulch and it's full of tiny house ants. Im unsure how dangerous this will be for my garden to add this mulch now. I have opened the bag all the way and I'm hoping the ants will mostly leave on their own before using the mulch. What do you think? Money is a factor for me, so I'm really worried about this. I need to be able to use this mulch. This is the first time I'm using mulch so soon. Last year, I waited til all my plants were mature, but I also had a hard time keeping up with weeds and it caused some issues for a few of my plants growth as a result in mid summer. Last year was my first year growing my own garden. My garden is mostly all in ground. I do have lots of diversity.

You’re a funny bugger!😂 thanks so much for all of your hard work and sharing your knowledge. I’ve been watching your videos for a few years now, and did a search through your past ones for tips on how to deal with bugs etc… I’m in Western Sydney, and due to the warm weather we had the last couple of months, had a heap of tomatoes self seed and take off. Not an ideal time to start growing at this time of year. But I’m finding a lot of them are getting eaten by grubs. The old tomato dust is not doing a thing, so just wondering if you have an organic spray recipe? Also It’s turned quite cold the last couple of days, so wondering if covering them with plastic would help to keep them warm while the fruit ripen. Also even our cherry tomatoes seemed to get stung a lot this year, but I’m wondering if they are from a self seeded plant whether in your opinion does it make the crop more susceptible to critters?
Thanks Mark, Love your videos, keep ‘em coming. ❤️
